Car rental in Phuket costs from ฿1,180 a day for an economy car. The total is made up of the chosen model's rate, the seasonal surcharge, the long-rental discount, delivery and extras; the deposit is refundable and is not part of the rental price.

In what order does the calculator work out the price?
The calculator on the site and the booking form work the same way. First the car's rate is multiplied by the number of days, then the long-rental discount and the seasonal surcharge for each day are applied. Extras such as full insurance and district delivery are added after that. The total is rounded to ฿10.
There is also a cap: a rental never costs more than the next whole term with its discount. So 6 days cost no more than 7, and the calculator sets the lower amount itself.

How much does the season change the price?
The seasonal surcharge is charged for each day separately. If a rental starts in middle season and runs into high season, only the high-season days cost more. There are no holiday surcharges on top of the seasonal ones: New Year falls in peak season. How far ahead to book for those dates is covered in high season and New Year.

What is the long-rental discount and when does it start?
The long-rental discount is applied automatically by the number of days in the booking; no promo code is needed. The first step starts at a week, and the largest discount applies to rentals of a year or more. Weekly prices by model are on the weekly rental page, and a month and three months on one car are in the monthly estimate.

What is added to the daily rate?
Basic insurance is already in the rental price: the cars' policies cover commercial use, and damage that is your fault is capped at the ฿5,000 excess. The calculator shows everything else as separate lines before you book.
- Delivery and return at HKT airport: ฿0; to a hotel or villa: at the area rate, see car rental with delivery
- Full insurance: 35% of the rental, minimum ฿3,000, from 7 days; removes the excess and the deposit
- The deposit is refundable and its amount is on the car's page; with full insurance no deposit is paid
- Card payment via the terminal: plus a 7% bank fee on the total; cash in baht, US dollars or euros at the exchange-office rate with no mark-up
