The Toyota Fortuner and Ford Everest run on diesel, which pays off on long highway runs. Fuel works on a full-to-full basis: the car is handed over with a full tank and returned the same way, so you only pay for what you use. PTT, Shell and Bangchak stations are all over the island.

Is a deposit required for an SUV?

No, if you take full insurance: it is sold on rentals of 7 days or more and removes both the deposit and the excess. Basic insurance with a ฿5,000 excess is included in the price; with it you leave a refundable deposit of ฿10,000 for this class (the exact amount is on the car page). The deposit is returned in full if the car comes back without new damage; its condition is photographed at handover and return.
